Visit our display to learn how Lawrence Allen Centre and Hoarding for Humanity have partnered to divert construction materials from landfills and support the surrounding community. <h3>Textiles Tuesday | October 22</h3>Did you know Canadians throw out nearly 500 million kilograms (or about a billion pounds) of clothing and fabric-containing home goods every year? Globally, textile waste has increased dramatically due to the rise in clothing consumption and production. Textiles Tuesday raises awareness of the environmental consequences of clothing and textile consumption and provides information on how you can extend the life of your clothing. Lawrence Allen Centre supports the diversion of e-waste as part of our sustainability efforts.&nbsp;Please bring any of your old electronics that you haven’t been able to dispose of and we will have it disposed for you.&nbsp;We as a community can ensure we have done our part to support our environment. <h3>Plastics Thursday | October 24</h3>Since the 1950s, 8.3 billion tons of plastic have been generated worldwide, and only 23% of those plastics have been recovered or recycled. It is estimated that an additional 12 billion tonnes of plastic will be lost to disposal by 2050. Here's how it works:<ul><li>Collect your plastic cards, including gift cards, loyalty cards, and credit cards, that are no longer needed or expired.</li><li>Drop them off in the designated recycling box. The box will be clearly labeled for your convenience.</li><li>Our team will ensure that the collected plastic cards are sent&nbsp;for proper recycling, where they will be processed into new materials.</li></ul> We encourage everyone, including our stores, retailers, and customers, to take advantage of this program and contribute to our efforts to protect the environment. Together, we can make a positive impact on our planet.
